So as you know, Thanksgiving was this last week, and this year, me and my siblings & my best friend week to trinity rescue mission. And let me tell you what, it was such a blessing. I never knew how good I have it. And I whine on how not knowing what to where, or how stressed I am. But the things I'm stressing about, whether it be school, work, family, my car, my food... they are all blessings! My best friend & I (and eventually my siblings came as well) talked to our homeless friend, Dorthy, and she has gotta be one of the most sweetest ladies I've ever met in my life.
And I can understand the stereotype that homeless people are druggies and lazy, but there are also those who honestly have just had a series of unfortunate events and have families that simply don't want to help them. And regardless if they are into shady stuff or not, we are called to reach out to them and help them. "Help" may mean different things to different people. To some it may mean giving them money. To some it may mean giving them food. We have so many resources to help those in need, which can be as simple as serving a meal or listening to them and letting them know that they are worth something.
That experience was simply amazing and helped me to put things into perspective on all of this stuff that the Lord has given me is suchh a blessing and I don't deserve most of it. Here are some pictures from the event!
We served about 700 people.. I was one of the people who distributed the food (the greenbeans)... let's just say after the first 300 plates, my right had was getting kinda weary lol
Some helped with the "warm blanket" booth and they ran out and did a walgreens run.. all those were gone in less than 10 minutes! They were rather popular!
They were busy!
They had sooo much clothes to give away! So awesome!
